Emma Cline is the New York Times bestselling author of The Girls, The Guest, and the story collection Daddy. The Girls won the Shirley Jackson Award and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle's John Leonard Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, while The Guest was longlisted for the PEN/Faulkner Award. Granta named her one of its Best Young American Novelists, and Switzy marks her fourth novel and first appearance on the Booker Prize longlist.

Pre-release readers are calling it elegiac, hypnotic, and unforgettable:
Booker Prize judges call it "immersive, elegiac, and very real."
The New York Times says every sentence is "as sharp as a scalpel."
The New Yorker notes "there is something remarkable" on nearly every page.
Vogue praises Cline's gift for "menace that often lurks adjacent to our most glittery environments."
This book is for you if:
You’re drawn to novels that get inside a mind coming undone, one hazy memory at a time.
You loved The Girls or The Guest and want to see Cline turn her attention to a very different kind of main character.
You want a Booker Prize contender everyone will be discussing this fall, before the shortlist even drops.
You appreciate fiction that’s funny and heartbreaking in the same sentence.
You’re fascinated by stories that quietly interrogate wealth, privilege, and what they cost the people who have them.

We expect you may have some questions…
-
We believe hardcover books are too expensive, especially new releases.
Trove gives you a better option to read new books immediately.
Rent first, then return it when you are done — or keep it if you love it!
-
Choose Rent New, read the book for up to 30 days per copy, then return it or keep it.
If you keep it, the remaining balance applies as if you bought it outright.
-
You are charged the day after your rental is due using the payment method we have on file.
-
Each rental copy is kept for 30 days, keep it and pay the difference between your rental and the cover price.
The book should be returned in very good condition so another reader can enjoy it!
-
Running a few days late? No worries — just let us know by emailing us at hello@trovebookstore.com and we’ll work with you.
You’ll receive multiple email reminders before the due date, so just let us know so we can adjust!
-
If a rental book is lost, not returned, or returned with major damage, the remaining purchase balance may still apply.
If something happens to your rental, contact Trove at hello@trovebookstore.com as soon as possible so we can work with you to resolve the issue.
-
You own it! If you rent a book and decide you want to keep it, the remaining purchase balance will apply. No action is needed.
This lets you start with the rental price and only pay the rest if you feel the book belongs on your shelf.
