Dr. Zaldy Tan is a Harvard-trained geriatrician who directs the Memory and Healthy Aging Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and holds the Carmen & Louis Warschaw Endowed Chair in Neurology at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine. Before Cedars-Sinai, he built and led Harvard Medical School's Memory Disorders Clinic, and his research and commentary on memory loss and dementia care have appeared in The New York Times, CNN, NPR, and The Wall Street Journal. What to Remember When You Are Forgetting draws on decades spent at the bedside with patients and families navigating a dementia diagnosis, and it isn't his first time putting that expertise on the page — he previously co-wrote Age-Proof Your Mind for readers looking to protect their cognitive health before a diagnosis ever arrives.

Critics are calling it thorough, practical, and empowering:
"This thorough, practical examination of how to deal with memory loss...is recommended for public libraries." — Library Journal
"Tan delivers a practical and empowering road map for people with dementia..." — Publishers Weekly
"This is the kind of book I wish every patient and caregiver had..." — Katherine L. Possin, PhD
"In a well-written, well-organized, and sympathetic voice..." — Peter V. Rabins, MD, MPH
This book is for you if
You or someone you love has just received a dementia or Alzheimer's diagnosis and don't know where to start.
You're caring for a parent or spouse and need concrete scripts for hard conversations, not just sympathy.
You want a doctor's expertise without the clinical coldness — written by someone who's sat across the table from thousands of families.
You've heard stories like Angela's and Marcel's and want to believe a diagnosis can still leave room for purpose.
You're preparing for a memory assessment and want to know what to expect before you're in the waiting room.
“★★★★★ You’re renting a brand-new hardcover for $12 instead of paying $30+. Even if you keep it, you come in under what you’d pay elsewhere.”
